Barcelona´s most famous brands: Camper shoes

Published by admin under Shopping

Camper is the living history of a family business who, for more than a century and four generations, have dedicated their work to the shoe industry.

In 1877, Antonio Fluxà, a craftsman shoemaker, went England to find out about new methods of industrial manufacturing.

His son Lorenzo Fluxà was born into a shoe factory. He inherited from his father his taste and enthusiasm for this small object, always in pairs, that connects us to the ground. He continued the tradition.

The historical and social changes that occurred in Spain during the 70’s were reflected in a new way of life. New styles, new concepts. With the solid support of a century-old tradition, Lorenzo Fluxà, Antonio’s grandson, created Camper in 1975.

In 1981, the first Camper store was opened in Barcelona. A concept that revolutionized the world of traditional shoemaking. Today, Camper is the senior company in the sector in Spain.

If you want your own pair of Camper shoes come to Barcelona and try them!

Christmas Catalan Tradition El Cagador or El Cajaner Barcelona

Published by admin under Spanish Traditions

cajador2.jpgcajador.jpg

And there is this super charming Catalan tradition of setting up elaborate Nativity scenes, only with a special touch: a little guy, somewhere in the picture, squatting with pants down and depositing a healthy looking turd somewhere in the holy scene. He’s called the “el Cagador”—that’s right, folks, “the shitter.”

You can buy one Cagador (what an original gift to bring home ) in Barcelona, in a shop located in the street going from the Plaza Generalitat along the cathedral… all kind of faces, the Bush ’s cagador, the Sarkozy and Carla Bruni ’s cagador ….Very strange and funny. On the christmas market de Santa Lucia, many shops where to buy el CAJANER ( el cagador en catalan).

The Cagador symbolizes the fertility to the earth.
